At first this kitchen looked like a simple renovation but it didn't take long to realise that looks can be deceiving! We found that the ceiling was unlevel between the kitchen and dining room and sat at different heights, so we had to get creative and create a ceiling with such a steady and gradual incline to match the two rooms together that it wouldn't be noticeable by eye. Another more alarming discovery was to find the supporting post that was holding up the extended part of the house was not actually fixed to anything and had so many holes in from cables being drilled into it, resulting in it not being strong enough to do its job! We ended up removing the whole thing and replacing it with a laminated post. We then had to completely re-wire the kitchen as the previous renovations team wired it in such a way that we had to remove everything and start again to allow us to be able to resituate appliance and plugs etc. Removing the wall between the two rooms really opened the space up and made it so much more of a friendly family space, the effect of this was instant! We moved the sink to the island and the hob to the opposite wall. We also created a walk in vanity at the end of the kitchen with an appliance bench hidden away and sensor lighting for added convenience with a modern touch. And finally we put in more drawers for easier storage and all doors and hinges have soft close mechanisms giving this kitchen a modern, spacious and warm feel.
